Your messages and voicemails don't transfer automatically when you switch carriers. Here's how to keep them safe before leaving Google Fi.
In the Fi app, open Voicemail → Share → Save to Drive.
This saves individual voicemails as audio files to your Google Drive.
You can also use Google Voice to forward copies to email.
Enable email forwarding in Google Voice settings for automatic backup.
Enable Google One Phone Backup in Settings.
• Go to Settings → Google → Backup
• Turn on "Back up to Google Drive"
• Include SMS messages in backup
Alternatively, use SMS Backup & Restore on Android.
• Download from Google Play Store
• Create XML backup file
• Save to cloud storage or local device
• Google Takeout: Export your call history from Google account data.
• Fi App: Screenshot important call logs before canceling.
• Third-party apps: Use call log backup apps from the Play Store.
Back up all data while your Fi account is still active.
Keep Fi service active until the port completes.
Verify all backups are accessible before Fi account closes.
⚠️ Act quickly: Back up data before canceling or porting out.
⚠️ Multiple copies: Save backups in multiple locations (cloud, local, email).
⚠️ Test restores: Verify you can access backed up data.
